Bengals Rout NHTI
January 21, 2017 • Concord, New Hampshire

Concord, New Hampshire--The University of Maine at Fort Kent men's basketball team routed NHTI on Friday evening, 102-66. The Bengals hit seven three pointers in a 49 point first half.

Rosevelt Smith Jr., who has been battled illness, came out hot and hit four three point field goals in the half for his 18 first half points. Then when the defense tried to focus on Smith Jr., the Bengals went inside to big man Joe McCloskey who had 10 in the first half. UMFK shot 65% in the half. The Bengals also held NHTI to just eight points in the final 12 minutes of the half.

The Bengals continued their hot shooting and suffocating defense in the second half and rode it to the 36 point win. Kostas Koustas hit four three's in the second half and McCloskey added 16 to finish with 26. Smith Jr. finished with 19 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds.

NHTI was led by Donte Ramos who had 13.
