Fort Kent, Maine—The University of Maine at Fort Kent men’s soccer team continued their unbeaten start to the 2017 season by crushing previously unbeaten Berkeley College of New Jersey, 7-0 on Sunday afternoon. Berkeley came in to the contest with a perfect 8-0-0 record.
UMFK scored less than two minutes into the game when Miguel Barnaby sent a ball that had been kicked around inside the box past the diving keeper. UMFK outshot Berkeley 22-4.
Rodney Witter and James Blanchett scored goals just 11 seconds apart to stretch the lead to 3-0 and put any chance the Knights had of coming back away.
Mark Parchment, Stefan Petricevic and Odean Irons all scored within ten minutes in the first half to stretch the lead to 6-0. Irons goal came off a strike from about 35 yards away. Comar Pascoe added a goal in the second half.
Butch Forbes picked up the win in goal.
