MEN'S BASKETBALL vs. YORK COLLEGE (NY)
There are no upcoming games currently scheduled. Please check back at a later time.
At Buffalo State, the UMFK men’s basketball team had a different approach to the consolation game at the Buffalo State Coles Tournament on Saturday afternoon, as they came out on fire from three point range and played suffocating defense against York College of Jamaica, NY in a 97-64 victory. The Bengals were embaressed the night before by the host school but got a little redemption on Saturday.
Will White and Fred Sanchez both came off the bench to score 18 points apiece. White hit four three point shots in the first half and Sanchez hit four of his six three’s in the second half. Rosevelt Smith Jr. was named to the All-Tournament team after he had 10 rebounds and 12 assists. The Bengals leading scorer attempted only four shots on the day as he found the hot hands for UMFK rather than look for his own shot. Smith Jr. set the tournament record for assists in a game. Joe McCloskey scored 17 off the bench for UMFK as well.
The Bengals held York to 38% shooting and outrebounded the Cardinals 45-40. UMFK had 25 assists on 36 baskets on the afternoon and will continue their road trip against Villa Maria on Monday evening at 7:30pm.
