Game Recap

The U-Maine Fort Kent men’s basketball team outscored New Hampshire Tech 45-37 in the second half to win 85-77 in a USCAA match-up in Concord, New Hampshire Friday night. UMFK (17-7) closes out their regular season in Virginia with two big USCAA top 10 match-ups. On Monday February 20, UMFK will play at no. 6 The Apprentice School in Newport News, Va., at 7pm and on Tuesday February 21 the Bengals take on defending USCAA National Champions and current no. 2 Southern Virginia at 5pm in Buena Vista, Va.

On Friday night in Concord, New Hampshire, UMFK nailed 28 of 35 free throw attempts including 22 of 27 in the second half. NHTI (23-12) used a 9-0 run to break a 40-40 halftime tie and climb to their biggest lead of the game early in the second half. However, UMFK began to chip away by attacking the rim behind the play of Manny Odugbela (26 points 11 boards 5 assists) and Pablo Llamas (13 points). The two players combined for a 23 for 28 effort from the charity stripe. Freshmen Jorge Matesanz provided a spark of the Bengal bench with 14 points on 5-6 shooting from the field including a 4-5 effort from three point land. Othniel Hyliger added 14 points as well to go with seven boards and Jeremy Thomas had nine points, 10 boards, and four dimes.

Besfort Syla led NHTI with 15 points.
