The Apprentice School used a decisive rebounding advantage to help carry them past the visiting U-Maine Fort Kent men’s basketball team 90-82 in a USCAA D1 Top 20 match-up Monday evening from Newport News, Virginia.
UMFK (17-8) was outrebounded 52-31 by the hosts and gave up 24 offensive boards leading to 25 second chance points. The Bengals placed four players in double figure scoring led by Jeremy Thomas’s 20 points. Manny Odugbela had 19 and Othniel Hyliger and Pablo Llamas each added 12. Hyliger had a team-high nine boards and Llamas dished out five dimes.
The Builders (15-9) were led by Isaih Harrison (35 points, 18 rebounds) and Tevin Andrews (27 & 9 who combined for 62 points and 27 boards. UMFK battled all night and cut the Builders lead to one at 71-70 with just under four minutes to go but AS quickly put together a game closing run for the big USCAA win.
