Ben Kluvers had, as one could say, an unorthodox college career. After initially enrolling and being a part of the 2008 Hall of Fame soccer team, Kluvers un-enrolled at UMFK to return home as he struggled academically throughout his Freshman year. If it was not for the persistence of former UMFK Men’s Soccer Coach Bill Ashby, the all-time leading scorer in the history of UMFK Men’s Soccer might not ever have returned to school to break records, make history, and leave a legacy like no other.

Kluvers scored 98 goals in four years for the Bengals and was named a First-Team All-American in each of those four seasons. He was also named the National Player of the Year an unprecedented three times, in 2014, 2015, and 2016. In his Junior and Senior year, he led the Bengals to USCAA National Championships and was named Male Athlete of the Year at UMFK during his Senior year.

Kluvers is perhaps the most decorated student-athlete to ever attend the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Between the goal-scoring record and his recognition and awards, Kluvers is in a class by himself. The immense levels of achievement Kluvers reached are unparalleled and will likely never be broken. Kluvers graduated in 2016 with a degree in computer science and now resides in Massachusetts with his family, where he helps direct a youth soccer club.
