Bengals Crush CSJ
October 8, 2017 • Fort Kent, Maine

Fort Kent, Maine—The University of Maine at Fort Kent men’s soccer team continued their undefeated start to the 2017 season, moving to 9-0-0, with a 6-0 victory of College of St. Joseph (VT).

The Bengals led just 1-0 at the half, on an early goal by James Blanchett, his eighth of the year after taking a pass from Mark Parchment. The Bengals had numerous chances in the half to increase the lead but Saints keeper Maxwell Singh made some great saves and kept his team in the match.

UMFK scored just three minutes into the half as Carlos Crusat-Lopez buried one in the back of the net and just one minute later, Mark Parchment made a penalty shot after a Bengal was taken down in the box. Parchment leads UMFK with 11 goals on the season.

Ayooluwatomi Sowole scored his first Bengal goal in the second half on a beautiful half volley from a Stuart Conway corner and Shawn Genus added a goal and assisted a DAmine Rankine goal to close the scoring for UMFK.

Butch Forbes earned the clean sheet, saving the only shot he faced. Singh, the Saints keeper made six saves.
