Fort Kent, Maine—The University of Maine at Fort Kent men’s soccer team won a rainy contest against Maine Maritime, 5-0, on Monday afternoon. The Bengals move to 10-0-0 on the season.
The game was controlled from start to finish by UMFK. The Bengal defense didn’t allow a shot on goal and played controlled soccer in the second half and outshot their opponents 24-0 on the afternoon.
Freshman Shawn Genus scored and assisted goals in the opening 14 minutes of the game. James Blanchett scored the first of two goals on the Genus assist. The Bengals just peppered Maine Maritime keeper Andrew Coleman all first half.
Rodney Witter and Nicholas Gayle added goals in the first half for UMFK.
Butch Forbes and Glenroy Osbourne combined for the win. Coleman made eight saves on the day.
