Syvanthong Wins it for UMFK

Portland, Oregon—The University of Maine at Fort Kent won their first contest of the season as senior Bobby Syvanthong made a layup with 0.3 seconds to go, to beat Multnomah University, 75-73, on Saturday afternoon.

The Bengals got a stop with the game tied at 73, and called timeout with :10 seconds remaining. Syvanthong went off a screen and made a spin move to the basket.

UMFK led by 10 early in the second half, 50-40 on a Syvanthong layup, and 67-59 with under five minutes to play but Multnomah kept battling. The Lions would take the lead three separate times only for UMFK to answer each time.

Anthony Knight led the way for UMFK with 15 points and five rebounds. Troy Williams came off the bench and hit three, three point shots to finish with 14 points and six rebounds. Syvanthong finished with 13 points and four assists.
