Weekend Recap September 23rd, 2018

Fort Kent, Maine—The University of Maine at Fort Kent Athletics teams had an incredibly successful weekend on their respective trips South. On Saturday, both the Men’s and Women’s soccer teams drove down East to Machias, Maine to take on in-state rival, the University of Maine at Machias. In the Women’s match, the Bengals outlasted the Clippers 2-0. Head Coach Larry Simpson said, “I like the progress we are making and I’m hoping to keep this momentum going throughout the season.” The Lady Bengals soccer team now has a record of 4-0-1.

In the second match of the double header, the Men’s Soccer team pounced all over the Clippers and once again showed off incredible versatility as five different players scored for UMFK including Shawn Genus, Damion Rankine, Luke Wentland, Lovel Jonas and Jahreed Murray. The Bengals record now sits at 6-3-2.

On Sunday, at Unity College the UMFK Women’s Volleyball team swept both Unity College (25-17, 25-13, 25-20) and Green Mountain College (25-14, 25-12, 15-14) in straight sets to claim victory in both matches. The Bengals have not dropped a set in their last seven matches. The Women’s Volleyball team record advances to 12-3.

The UMFK Soccer teams will host Fisher College at Alumni Memorial Field at UMFK on Saturday the 29th. The Women play at 12 PM and the Men play at 2 PM. The Women’s Volleyball team will U-Maine Machias on Sunday the 30th at 12 PM.
