Fort Kent, ME—University of Maine Interim Athletics Director, Matt Dyer is pleased to announce the hiring of two former Bengal stars, Luse Lumas as the Interim Women’s Volleyball Coach and Dakota Martin as the Interim Women’s Basketball Coach. Both ladies will take over for the spring semester, respectfully replacing Selina Castro and Fletcher Brown, who left to pursue other opportunities.

Lumas was a middle blocker and outside hitter for the Bengals and led them to back to back USCAA National Tournament appearances, which included a spot in the 2019 National Championship match. She was a two-time First-Team USCAA All-American and led the entire country in Aces and solo blocks her junior year.

Martin, who works at the University in the Admissions department, will step in to lead a very good core group of players returning for the spring semester. She played one season of basketball for Coach Brown, captained and led her soccer squad to a USCAA National Championship victory in 2019.

The Bengals hope to build some momentum this spring leading into next season where expectations will be as high as ever. UMFK has made five consecutive USCAA National tournaments in volleyball and three straight trips in basketball.
