Bengals survive and advance, Odugbela reaches career point 1,000
February 27, 2011 • Windham, Maine

The #2 UMaine Fort Kent men's basketball team defeated #3 Vermont Technical College 76-73 in a Sunrise Conference semifinal Saturday evening in Windham, Maine. The Bengals (18-9) advance to Sunday's 3pm Championship game vs. top ranked Fisher College who defeated #4 CSJ-VT in the days first men's game 80-65. The winner will advance to the NAIA II National Tournament in Branson, Missouri.

Junior team captain Manny Odugbela (Providence, R.I.) scored career point 1,000 on a three point play with just under 10 points left to reach the milestone in just his third year of play. Odugbela finished the game with 17 points to join four other Bengals in double figure scoring. Kevin Loiselle (Fy., Montreal, Canada) led UMFK with 18 and Pablo Llamas (So., Leon, Spain) added 14 and Jamar Thornhill (Fy., Montreal, Canada) had 12 points and seven boards.

VTC small forward Nick Simpson led all scorers with a game-high 33 points.
