The UMaine Fort Kent men’s soccer team recorded two consecutive 10-0 road shutouts on a Vermont State road swing beating Vermont Technical College Thursday in Randolph Center and College of St. Joseph in Rutland Friday afternoon. UMFK has now scored 10 goals in three straight contests and improved to 9-1.
On Friday vs. CSJ, Phathizwe Sacolo (Johannesburg, South Africa) led UMFK with three goals and fellow first year player Jamie De Abreu (Perth, Austrailia) had three assists vs. CSJ. UMFK outshot CSJ an impressive 58-3 on the day.
UMFK keeper David Girouard (St-Eustache, Quebec) earned his second straight shutout and sixth on the year combining with freshmen Bryan Piaseczny (Sheldon, Vt.) to make three saves on three shots. CSJ keeper Devon Bailey made 19 saves.
On Thursday in Randolph Center, Vermont UMFK defeated VTC 10-0 on a soggy, rain soaked field. Freshmen Abdel Renane (Montreal, Quebec) recorded a hat trick scoring the final three goals of the contest for UMFK while freshmen Phathizwe Sacolo (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Wilfried Monthe (Montreal, Canada) scored two goals each.
UMFK keeper David Girouard (St-Eustache, Quebec) earned his fifth shutout of the season combining with freshmen Bryan Piaseczny (Sheldon, Vt.) to make two saves on two shots. VTC (3-7) keepers Zach Fortuna and Senior Alex Bertaeu split time in goal, combining to make 29 saves on 39 UMFK shots.
