Bengals Win Two Matches
October 6, 2015 • Johnson City, New York

Syracuse, New York--The University of Maine at Fort Kent men's soccer team won two of three matches on the weekend, but dropped the most important match thus far to Bryant and Stratton of Syracuse, 1-0. Bryant and Stratton, a USCAA final four team from last season scored a goal in the 35th minute off a header from a corner kick. That was the only goal scored on the afternoon and proved to be enough. This loss was UMFK's first USCAA regular season loss since October of 2013.

On Thursday, UMFK defeated University of Maine at Machias 5-1. Machias put an early scare into the Bengals by leading 1-0 at halftime after a Alejandro Zeijas goal in the 28th minute. The Bengals offense came alive in the second half and provided 5 goals. Rodney Witter scored the first two Bengal goals in the 60th and 63rd minutes. Ross Downie scored the third goal for UMFK and also assisted on both of Witter's goals. Willy Monthe assisted on Downie's goal and scored one of his own. Sparky Petricevic scored the final goal assisted by Stuart Conway.

On Saturday it was Freshman Lewis Temple's day as he scored his first career hat trick in a UMFK uniform. UMFK defeated Davis College 7-0. Alex Charette picked up his first career win in goal for the Bengals. Justin Soontiens, Stuart Conway, Milton Christopher and Daniel Blackwood all added goals for UMFK.

UMFK returns home for the highly anticipated matchup with West Virginia Tech on Tuesday September 15th at 4:00pm. This is a rematch of the last two USCAA National Championship matches.
