Bengals Dominate Hornets
October 17, 2015 • Lyndonville, Vermont

Lyndon Center, VT. – The UMFK women's soccer team beat Lyndon State in a non-conference tilt, 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Bengals move to 16-2 and the Hornets fall to 1-11-1 on the year.

Although the Bengals outshot Lyndon State 52-0, the score stayed even until Catherine Bruno gathered the ball away from the defense and placed a shot past Sargent into the net in the 28th minute. Lyndon keeper Johanna Sargent stayed busy all game and kept Lyndon in the game in the first 60 minutes as the Bengal offense put 19 shots on goal for the day.

UMFK's offense would heat up in the 60th minute as Veronica De La Cruz gained possession and struck the ball past Sargent after the Hornet defense was unable to successfully clear the ball. In the 69th minute Katherine Ferland found Yosselin Berrueco with only the keeper to beat to push the score to 3-0.

Just four minutes later Ferland would make her way into the scoring column off an assist from Marie-Laurence to make it a 4-0 game. Berrueco would tally her second goal of the day off an assist from Alexandra Beauchesne to round out the scoring in the 81st minute.

Sargent ended with 14 saves in the loss. UMFK keeper Jessica Kozachuk earned her 2nd victory of the season.
