UMFK Beats Fisher for First Time Since 2011
December 19, 2016 • Lynn, Massachusetts

Lynn, Massachusetts—The University of Maine at Fort Ken men’s basketball team won the final game of the first semester this evening, 72-68 against Fisher College. The Bengals improve to 10-2.

UMFK saw senior Rosevelt Smith Jr. record a double-double with a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Stephon Bell also pulled down twelve rebounds while senior Joe McCloskey scored 16 points and swatted away four shots. In all four Bengals reached double figures as both senior Fred Sanchez 4-for-6 beyond the arc, and junior Travis Harlin Jr. recorded 12 and 10 points, respectively.

UMFK trailed early, 11-3 just three minutes in but turned up the defensive and held Fisher to just 12 points over the final 13 minutes of the half. UMFK was down 26-20, but Sanchez hit four threes in the final six minutes to spur a 20-5 Bengal run to end the half. The Bengals never looked back from there, eventually opening up a 16 point lead, and held off a late Fisher push to record their first victory against the Falcons since 2011.

Darrell Grady led the way for the Falcons as he total 23 points and six rebounds. Kyle Holmes finished with 14 points and Brodric Smith had 12 points in the loss.
