Hazleton, PA- The University of Maine at Fort Kent men's basketball team led USCAA #1 Rochester College of Michigan by 6 at halftime, but ultimately the Warriors size and strength was too much. UMFK fought until the end but fell 70-61.
UMFK got off to a bad start and trailed by 6 early, 12-6. The offense picked up and shots started to fall however and UMFK led 36-28 with 1:31 left in the half. Joe McCloskey had 12 first half points and UMFK hit four 3's to lead by 6.
The second half was back and forth with neither team leading by more than four points for the majority of the final 20 minutes. Leading by one point, Rochester's Justin Nafso hit a dagger three pointer to put his team ahead for good. Rochester out rebounded UMFK in the second half 26-12.
The Bengals were led by McCloskey's 18. Jake Rioux hit four 3's for 12 and Qaadir Ali chipped in with 10.
Rochester was led by Angelo Griffis's 18 points. Milton Cribbs and Jaylen Larry had 12 apiece.
