Fort Kent, Maine—The University of Maine at Fort Kent men’s basketball team continued their school record start by winning their 16th game of the season to move to 16-3 after a win at home against SUNY Delhi, 84-71.

UMFK jumped out early with suffocating defense that led to easy transition baskets as they built a 23-11 lead, 12 minutes into the game. Bobby Syvanthong and Joe McCloskey both had 10 in the opening stanza as the Bengals led 36-22 at the half.

The second half was all UMFK for the first 15 minutes as the Bengals got out to a 74-48 lead with a little over five minutes to play. Delhi caught fire and hit four threes to cut the lead down to 16, but eventually ran out of time.

McCloskey was the leader again with a double double of 25 points and 12 rebounds. Syvanthong finished with 16 points and four assists. Travis Harlin Jr. came off the bench to record a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Will White had 11 off the bench and Rosevelt Smith Jr. had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and three steals.

UMFK held Delhi leading scorer David Haye to just 15 points, as he came in averaging 24 a game. William Knight came off the bench to hit five threes and lead Delhi with 17 points.

UMFK will matchup on Saturday against two-time USCAA D2 National Champions, Berkeley College of New York at 1pm. Berkeley will be riding a 37 game win streak heading into Saturday.
