Game Recap

The University of Maine at Fort Kent men’s basketball team defeated host U-Maine-Presque Isle 80-70 in the finale of the three-team Star City Classic Sunday in Presque Isle, Maine. UMFK (2-2) will next take on Colby College in the Colby Classic Saturday November 23 at 2pm.

On Sunday in Presque Isle, sophomore Mauro Vicic led four UMFK players in double figures with 22 points and also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds in the win and was named to the All-Tournament team. Freshmen forward Mike McClung took home Tournament Most Valuable Player honors as he finished the game with 16 points. McClung had 16 points and nine rebounds in a 81-68 loss to U-Maine-Machais on Saturday.

Junior James Givens added 16 points and dished out five assists for UMFK and Fred Sanchez had 12 points and seven boards. UMFK shot 56% (14-25) and held UMPI to 39% shooting in the second half (14-36) as they were to break away from a 37-37 halftime lead.

Michael Warner led four UMPI players in double figures with 17 points.
