MEN'S BASKETBALL vs. VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY LYNCHBURG

The U-Maine-Fort Kent men’s basketball team shot a season high 60% (25-42) and knocked down 33-34 free throw attempts in a 90-84 win over Virginia-University-Lynchburg. The 90 points was also a season-high for UMFK (6-17) who snapped an eight-game skid with the win.
Junior guard James Givens (Fairfield, California) led UMFK with a season-high 31 points and added eight assists. Jeremy Bishop (JR – Montreal, Canada) and Fred Sanchez (SO – Bronx, NY) had 18 points each and Nikola Vukosavovic (FR – Bar, Montenegro) chipped in with 12 points. Bishop knocked down 8-12 from the floor while Givens and Sanchez combined to make 25 of 27 from the free throw line.
UMFK fought back from a double digit deficit mid-way through the first and took a 46-40 lead into halftime. The teams then went back in forth in the second half but the Bengals were able to maintain their lead picking up the big home win.
UMFK will play their final home men’s game of the season against Aroostook County rival UMPI on Wednesday February 5 at 7:30pm.
