Game Recap

Fort Kent, Maine-- The University of Maine at Fort Kent Men's Soccer team shook off a slow start to end up defeating the University of Quebec-School of Higher Technology 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Memorial Field.

It took a while for the Bengals offense to turn on, but once they got rolling, there was no stopping them. After a number of shots on goal missed wide for the home team, it was in the 36th minute that Kevaughn Blake hustled down a ball between two opposing defenders and delivered a beautiful assist to Shawn Genus who sent it home for the Bengals. Just a few minutes later, Rodney Witter netted a penalty kick after he was dragged down from behind, inside the goal keeper box.

Coming out of halftime with a 2-0 lead, it only took three minutes into the second half for Shawn Genus to score his second goal of the game off an assist from Travar McCollah putting the Bengals up three goals to none. Throughout the second half, the Bengals showed off excellent defense and superb communication as they flawlessly moved the ball and dominated time of possession. Romario Romain held it down in goal for UMFK as the Bengals prevailed for their second win in as many days.

The UMFK Men's Soccer team will be taking the show on the road as they prepare for a three game road trip through New York and Ohio. The Bengals will face Mercer County College in their next game on September 12th.
