The U-Maine-Fort Kent men’s soccer team defeated Holland College (PEI, Canada) 8-0 ,Monday to win the UMFK Soccer Labor Day Weekend Classic from Fort Kent, Maine. UMFK improves to 2-0-0 with the win while Holland College dropped to 1-2-0. The Bengals play next in Boston verse NAIA Independent Fisher College Thursday September 5.

BOX SCORE - Monday in Fort Kent, freshmen forward Ben Kluvers (Vernon Hills, IL) scored three times and added an assist to lead the UMFK attack. The Bengals scored just fifty-three seconds into the game as Ross Downie (So., Edinburgh, Scotland) knocked home a Kluvers cross. Kluvers then scored the final two goals of the first half and the first of the second half to put the Bengals up 4-0. Junior forward Kennard Brown (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) added a goal and two assists on the day and junior forward Willie Monthe (Metz, France) scored the final two goals for the Bengals on the day. Freshmen mid Matt Dunn (Dallas, Texas) picked up his first career goal for UMFK and had an assist.

Jamie Cleland (Fr., Dunfermline, Scotland) made one save on one shot for UMFK for the shut-out win while Hurricane keeper Logan Doiron (Charlottetown, PEI) made nine saves on seventeen UMFK shots.
