Fort Kent, Maine—The University of Maine at Fort Kent women’s basketball survived a scare from visiting SUNY Delhi, a team they beat by 42 early in the season, but some recent personnel changes took the Bengals a while to get used to and eventually won, 54-49.
SUNY Delhi got out to an early 20-7 lead as the Bengals shot 1-16 from three point range in the first half but were able to take the lead at halftime, 29-23. UMFK caught fire and hit six three point shots in the second half and held off a late rally by the Broncos to move to 14-5 on the season.
Savana Jankowski had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Bianca Gutierrez added 16 points and five assists. Delhi was led by Kaitlin Gorton’s 12 points.
