Machias, Maine—The University of Maine at Fort Kent men’s and women’s basketball teams both won road, instate rival games at University of Maine Machias on Thursday evening. The women were victorious by a 76-68 scoreline.

In the women’s game, UMFK jumped out to a 26-12 first quarter lead thanks to 66% shooting and 10 points by USCAA leading scorer Savana Jankowski. However the second quarter was the complete opposite as UMFK shot 3-13 and Alice Brooks for Machias caught fire and finished with four first half three pointers. The Bengals led by just two points (34-32) at the half.

The second half was back and forth with the lead changing six times in the third quarter. Two Kailee Dowler free throws and a baseline jumper from Tate Dolley gave UMFK the lead for good.

The Bengals would force 16 Machias turnovers and out score the Clippers from the free throw line 24-11. UMFK shot 24-27 from the line.

Jankowski led the Bengals with 28 points. The freshman Dowler had 22 and hometown hero Tate Dolley had 10 points and seven rebounds.
