Game Recap

Katherine Ferland (Fy., Montreal, Quebec) continued her early season torrid scoring with a hat trick and an assist to help lead Maine-Fort Kent to a 5-1 win at Maine Maritime Tuesday afternoon.  Senior team-captain Theresa Biggs (Cape Town, South Africa) netted the other two goals for 6-0 UMFK.

Ferland, who now has eleven goals in her last three contests, got the Lady Bengals on the board with an unassisted goal early in the 24th minute.  Biggs then scored her first of two, on an assist from Ferland on the eventual game-winner in the 29th minute. She then followed just under three minutes later (33rd min) with another score to give UMFK a 3-0 lead at the break.

Ferland scored two goals in the second half for UMFK in the 66th and 70th minute for UMFK who outshot MMA 28 to five on the day.

The Mariners broke up the Bengals shutout bid in the 90th minute when Annie Koensgen headed home a Dani Holt serve on a corner kick.

Freshmen keeper Kimika Forbes (Trinidad & Tobago) made three saves on five MMA shots while Kelsie Hilton turned aside 10 of 28 for the hosts.

UMFK returns to action Thursday in Fort Kent when they host Maine Machias at 2:30pm.
