Young new UMFK Women’s Volleyball Coach, features brand new roster

Quintina Young (COF2013) was named the next Women’s Volleyball Head Coach at the University of Maine-Fort Kent last spring. Young, a native of Portland, Maine, graduated from UMFK in May of 2013.

Young started her coaching career here at UMFK as an assistant coach for the Lady Bengals Basketball team during the 2012-13 season and will return to the same role in 2013-14.

Young possessed great leadership qualities as two-sport star at UMFK during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 athletic seasons in volleyball and basketball. Before playing for UMFK, Young played both volleyball and basketball for the Hesser Blue Devils in Manchester, New Hampshire where she earned MVP honors in both sports.

Young’s roster features ten players who will wear Bengal Green for the first time on Friday September 13. Seven of those ten players are junior college transfers with six coming from the Volleyball intense state of California, while the eighth juco-transfer is local product Emily Bard (Fort Kent, Maine) who comes home after two years at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland, Maine.

The California players are headlined by Young’s first recruit to commit, Jessany Munoz a libero from Yreka, Californian by way of Shasta College.

UMFK fans are extremely excited to meet and watch all of these players return to the court!
