Unity, Maine-- The University of Maine at Fort Kent Bengals took on in state rival, the University of Maine at Augusta on Wednesday evening at a neutral site game in Unity, Maine. In what was a battle of attrition throughout, with eight ties and eight lead changes, the Bengals were able to pull ahead by five late in the game. However, a couple of costly turnovers, one of which lead to a fastbreak layup and a foul for Augusta, put the Fighting Moose up by one with 21 seconds to go. Coach Bird took a timeout and drew up a game winning play which lead to Chance Cole finding Kwame Oduro wide open in the corner for the game winning shot. Augusta, with only a few seconds to go, was not able to get a shot off. The Bengals won 78-76 and their record advances to 2-3. They head South next for a long trip to Georgia and Florida where they will take on some of the top NAIA teams in the nation. Chance Cole was a star pouring in 30 points to go along with 11 rebounds.
