Final 2020 Fall Sports Scrimmages
October 30, 2020 • Fort Kent, ME

Fort Kent, ME—It appears as though the Fall season came to a screeching halt on Saturday as the temperature dropped close to 20 degrees seemingly overnight. But that did not stop our Fall sports teams from competing in their penultimate intra-squad scrimmages of the season.

The Women’s Volleyball team scrimmaged against a collection of coaches and former volleyball players on Saturday morning and the match wasn’t decided until the final moments. The match went to all five sets with our varsity team winning the final set 15-13. It was a total team effort as each member of the team had some shining moments in defeating a very experienced veteran opponent. The Women’s Volleyball team will have their final intra-squad scrimmage Friday afternoon; seating is limited to the first 20 guests.

Following the match, the action moved out to the soccer field for the Women’s Soccer team intra-squad scrimmage. The defending USCAA National Champions split up their own team and competed against each other which will only raise everyone’s level of competition higher, as the cream always rises to the top.  Searra Herbert scored the lone goal of the match for the Green team, propelling them to victory in what was an otherwise very even matchup for most of the 90 minutes.

The Men’s Soccer team wrapped up the days activities as Adil Iggouete scored two goals for the black squad as he guided his team to victory over the yellow team, 2-1. The Freshman from Germany had a very nice sequence very early in the match as he chipped an advance pass to a teammate just outside the goal keepers box, sprinted around the last defender, received the return pass and was able to easily lay the ball past the goal keeper for the first score of the game.

Both soccer teams will host their final scrimmages of the season next Sunday, November 1st at 12 and 2 PM. Come over to Alumni Memorial Field for the final opportunity to see our Fall athletes in action. Please maintain a safe distance from one another and bring a mask.
