Belizaire, Colpitts named 2013 USCAA Basketball Division I Honorable Mention All-Americans

U-Maine-Fort Kent basketball players Yoshives Belizaire (Sr., Fwd, Miramar, FL) and Jennifer Colpitts (Jr., G, Scarborough, Maine) have been named 2013 USCAA Div. 1 Honorable Mention All-Americans. The list was announced this past week at the USCAA Basketball National Championships held at Penn State Fayette in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

Belizaire was named a team captain this past season and started all 24 games for UMFK. He led UMFK in points, rebounds, overall field goal pct., free throw attempts and minutes played. Belizaire recorded five double doubles (ten plus points, rebounds in the same game) and he reached double figure scoring in 19 of 24 games played including 11 straight games double digit performances from December 9 – February 2.

Colpitts completed here junior campaign just three points shy of 1,000 in her career as she led the Lady Bengals to their first ever appearance at the USCAA Women’s Basketball Div. 1 National Championships. She was named USCAA Player of the week (week 1), to All-Tournament team at the Ed Hockenbury Classic Nov ’12 (Norwich University) and to the All-Tournament team at the NHTI Tip Off tournament Nov ’12. Colpitts led UMFK to USCAA Div. 1 national rankings ranging from #4-#12. She led UMFK in points and assists per game and reached her career-high in points dropping 31 against U-Maine- Machias. Colpitts ranked 2nd in the USCAA in FT attempts, 3rd in steals and 7th in total points. She shot 47.4% from the floor.
