Men’s soccer junior midfielder Kevin Dionne (St-Andre D' Argenteuil, Quebec) was named UMFK Male Athlete of the Year and women’s soccer and basketball standout Jenn Colpitts (Jr., Scarborough, Maine) won her second straight Female Athlete of the Year at the annual UMFK Athletic Awards Night this past Friday evening in a banquet at Nowland Hall.

Dionne led the Bengals men’s soccer team back to the USCAA National Tournament where they advanced to the Final Four falling to the eventual champions Briar Cliff in overtime. Dionne started 16 of 17 contests for the UMFK.

Colpitts was a major contributor on two USCAA National Tournament teams. She was a starter at midfield for the UMFK Women’s Soccer team that lost in the National Finals Daemen College and she was the leading scorer on the UMFK Women’s Basketball team that appeared in the program’s first ever USCAA National Championships, reaching the Elite Eight.

Senior women’s soccer player Jamie Pelletier (Eagle Lake, Maine) and fellow classmate Jeremy Harper (Men ‘s Soccer-Bath, Maine) were given the Terry Drown Award for Scholastic Achievement. Each year at UMFK, the Award for Top Scholastic Athlete is bestowed upon an athlete who exhibits the athletic and community spirit embodied by Terry Drown, for whom the award is named. Terry Drown had a significant impact upon UMFK athletics on the court, and on the university campus, as well. His posthumous induction into the UMFK Athletic Hall of Fame occurred in 2009.
