UMFK Basketball Beat

On Saturday February 8, the UMFK women will wrap up their home season with a 1pm contest vs. NAIA DII Independent Fisher College (Boston, MA.). The women will honor seniors Taylor Boucher (Fort Kent, Maine) and Jenn Colpitts (Scarborough, Maine) in a pre-game ceremony as they play the final home games as Lady Bengals.

Final regular season games ...

The UMFK men will complete their regular season with four high level road contests. They will travel to New York for a USCAA match-up with DII # 11 Berkeley-NY on Tuesday February 11 and then will take on NCAA D1 Independent New Jersey Institute of Technology on Wednesday February 12. The men will cap their regular season in Massachusetts against NCAA D3 Framingham State on Monday February 17 and then play at NAIA DII Independent Fisher College on February 18.

The Lady Bengals close regular season play this Saturday February 8 at 1pm with Fisher who defeated the Lady Bengals 73-60 outside Boston back on November 24.

Playoff picture ...

The University of Maine-Fort Kent women’s basketball team moved down one spot to no. 9 despite two wins in the latest USCAA Coaches Poll Week 5 edition released by the national office in Newport News, Virginia. The top eight teams in the final poll which is February 21 will get invitation to participate in the USCAA National Championships March 3 – 8 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. The Lady Bengals (10-7) received 248 votes. The UMFK men remain on the outside of the Top 20 but did receive 31 votes in the Week 5 Poll. With 5 games remaining the Bengals have an outside shot of moving up into contention. The poll is released on Friday evenings on www.theuscaa.com.

Bengal Winter Cubs Youth Clinic ...

The UMFK Basketball teams are holding a Youth Clinic from 9-10:30am this Saturday February 8 as well as February 15 and 22 for any interested youth basketball players in grades Pre-K - 6th. The cost is $15 per session. Registration with proof of insurance opens at 8:30am the day of the clinic.
