Beth (Daigle) King

Beth Daigle played for the UMFK’s women’s basketball team from 1985-1990 following an outstanding high school career at Fort Kent Community High School, where she was named Outstanding Senior Athlete in 1985.

Playing for Coach Ed Marshall at UMFK, Beth was a standout performer on a team that included Paula Martin (HOF’12).

Beth was the winner of the Coach’s Award for 1988. That same year she was named to the all-tourney team for the Star City (Presque Isle) Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Beth received both the President’s Award and the Grady Award during her senior year of 1990. A year earlier she was named Miss Crocker Beach 1989.

Beth graduated from UMFK in 1990 with a double major Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Education. She earned a Master of Science in Deaf Education from McDaniel College in Maryland in 1994, and became certified as an American Sign Language interpreter in 1995.

She has worked as a researcher in Edinburgh, Scotland; as an interpreter for the deaf at Maui (Hawaii) Community College; and was a deaf education teacher on the K-6 levels, also in Hawaii. Today she is the owner and general manager of Maui Moto’s, a shop offering personal and recreational vehicles.

In her community Beth is a Rotary Club member; served the Montessori School of Maui as PTA President for three years; and was the PTA President and on the board of directors for Montessori, Halie ‘o Keiki. She also has taught Sunday school.

Beth coached high school junior varsity and junior high school basketball in Fort Kent and Madawaska following her graduation. Today she coaches basketball at the Maui Montessori School on the upper elementary and middle school levels.
