James "Pop" Hoyt

Hoyt is recognized in the Builder/Administrator category. A 1917 graduate of the (then) Madawaska Training School, “Pop” Hoyt was a long-time friend to UMFK and its athletic department. He is described as the “right-hand man” to long-time coach and athletic director, Lowell “Ozzie” Osgood (HOF’08). Hoyt always was ready to assist student/athletes with their housing and transportation needs. He was a valuable asset to the athletic department and an unwavering advocate of the University.
