Scorer’s Table in Honor of late Ronnie Guy
Before the tip-off of the University of Maine at Fort Kent Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams home opener of the season next Saturday, the UMFK Athletic department will take a moment to recognize the late Ronnie Guy who passed away earlier this year in June.
Ronnie Guy was an invaluable member of the UMFK Athletic department, serving as a bus driver, official, and, more importantly, friend and mentor to generations of Bengal student-athletes. Ronnie could be found on the sideline of every home basketball game, helping work the scoreboard and game clock. Ronnie is survived by his wife, Liz, who asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the UMFK Athletic Department to which Ronnie so deeply cared about. Those funds helped purchase a brand new scorer’s table that will be first used on October 26th. The UMFK Athletic Department asks that fans of the game come no later than 2:50 PM to help commemorate the new scorer’s table in Ronnie Guy’s honor.
Additionally, the UMFK Athletic Department will create a special service award dedicated to someone who demonstrates tremendous passion in assisting the athletic department. The award will be given out at the Hall of Fame banquet in the Spring.
The ceremony will take place 10 minutes before the tip-off of the Women’s Basketball game against St. Thomas University, with the Men’s game following at 5 PM against St. Thomas University.
