Dejaunae Lewis

Dejaunae or DJAY is from Kingston, Jamaica, where she attended St. Andrew Technical High School. Before coming to the University of Maine at Fort Kent, she developed her game with Los Perfectos Women’s Football Team. Her performance and commitment to the sport earned her recognition as the Outstanding Female Footballer for 2023–24.

Lewis credits Shannon Lugdon and Head Women’s Soccer Coach Jermaine West as important influences during her time at UMFK. She describes Lugdon as a building block for the student-athletes, particularly through her support of their mental health and her constant encouragement to achieve more. West has provided Lewis with a listening ear and the tough love needed to continue growing both academically and athletically.

Away from soccer, Lewis enjoys watching movies and listening to music. Her favorite musical artists are Ayra Starr and Ai Milly, she supports Chelsea Football Club, and her favorite meal is curry chicken with rice and peas. Lewis also values spending time alone as she continues learning more about herself and her personal preferences.

DJ credits her family is her most important source of support, especially her twin sister, Devonae.

Lewis draws inspiration from two Bible verses: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” — Psalm 27:1, and “When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” — Isaiah 60:22.
