Dreanna Thaw
Dreanna "Dre" Thaw began her soccer career with her Meadowbrook High School’s football team. She later joined Reina’s Academy, the first all-female football academy in Jamaica. During the summer of 2025, Thaw played semi-professionally for Patuxent Football Athletics in Bowie, Maryland, where she also served as team captain.
Before arriving at UMFK, Thaw established herself as an accomplished goalkeeper. She was named the Jamaica Football Federation Goalkeeper of the Tournament in 2019 and Reina’s Academy Goalkeeper of the Tournament from 2021 through 2023. She was also named the Reina’s Shield MVP in 2021 and helped her team win the Reina’s Cup in 2023.
Thaw has continued to earn recognition as a member of the UMFK Bengals. She was named the USCAA Goalkeeper of the Week twice in 2023 and earned USCAA Player of the Week honors in 2024. She progressed from USCAA Second Team All-American recognition in 2024–25 to First Team All-American honors in 2025–26. Thaw has also been named to the UMFK Dean’s List every year since 2023.
Earning First Team All-American honors is Thaw’s proudest athletic accomplishment. After previously being selected to the Second Team, she used that recognition as motivation to work even harder. Achieving her goal of making the First Team confirmed that her commitment and additional effort had paid off.
Thaw credits UMFK's Career Services and Student Employment Coordinator, Tammy Delisle as her most influential mentor at UMFK. Since 2023, Delisle has become like a second mother to her and remains someone Thaw can approach during both good and difficult moments. She values Delisle’s ability to offer encouragement, comfort and thoughtful guidance whenever it is needed.
Thaw is also committed to giving back to UMFK Athletics. Inspired by the contributions of Jason Coleman and Cadin Taggart, she felt a responsibility to continue their example and help create a positive environment for the student-athletes who follow her.
Away from soccer, Thaw enjoys walking in nature, traveling, shopping and listening to music. Her favorite artist is PARTYNEXTDOOR, and she enjoys action, mystery, drama and comedy films. Her favorite foods include Mongolian and Jamaican cuisine. Although she owns a large collection of shoes, she usually prefers wearing Crocs or sandals. She is grateful for the support of her mother, Camille Powell, and her coach, Neo Oxford.
Dre's says her goal is to continue playing semi-pro then landing a pro contract, earn her bachelors and masters degree. She is aiming to build strong connections while taking the skills she's learned from the classroom and the field to the real world by competing in the highest level.
