Shaniah Johnson

Shaniah Johnson is from River Road in St. George, Grenada, where she attended the Anglican High School. Before joining the University of Maine at Fort Kent, she attended Lewis and Clark Community College and developed her game with the Queen’s Park Rangers.

Johnson brings extensive international experience to the Bengals, having represented Grenada at the U15, U17, U20 and senior national-team levels. During the 2022–23 season, she earned Second Team All-American honors. Since arriving at UMFK, Johnson has continued adding to her accomplishments, helping the Bengals secure a third-place national finish in 2025.

Earning Second Team All-American recognition remains Johnson’s proudest athletic accomplishment. The honor came during her first year competing in the United States. Although she initially questioned whether she was doing enough on the field, receiving the award confirmed her ability to compete successfully and showed her that her hard work was making an impact.

Johnson credits UMFK Career Services Coordinator, Student Employment Coordinator, Tammy Delisle with encouraging her to move beyond her comfort zone. Delisle supported Johnson’s development through Career Boot Camp and helped her grow into her current role as a Bengal Executive.

Away from soccer, Johnson enjoys makeup and hairstyling. Her favorite musical artist is Dash because his motivational songs and positive energy make her happy, particularly when she is missing home. Her favorite foods are Grenada’s national dish, oil down, as well as curry chicken and rice. An interesting talent people may not know about Johnson is that she can play the steel pan.

Her personal motto is: “Life is a marathon, not a sprint.”
