The Bengals entered Nationals on a great note as Halle Ham achieved Player of the Year while Danae Ford, Kaylee Neher, and Erika Guiterrez all earned All-Academic the night before.

The Bengals started off strong against St. Mary of the Woods, winning the first set 25-20. St. Mary of the Woods then returned with intensity and sought out the open spots on the floor to take the lead of the sets. Tensions were high as the Bengals tried to pull together, diving for balls and executing great hits to the back row. St. Mary of the Woods was still able to pull away, winning the first match of Nationals 3-1.

St. Mary of the Wood’s Hannah Zuege was an offensive threat as she earned 16 kills in addition to Alexis Woodburn’s 14 kills.
