Five-Goal First Half Powers UMFK Women’s Soccer Past UMPI, 6-0

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (Sept. 2, 2026) — The University of Maine at Fort Kent women’s soccer team scored five times in the opening 28 minutes on its way to a commanding 6-0 victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Wednesday afternoon.

Breanna Marr led the Bengals with two goals, while Maid Martin, Tajay Stephenson, Tashoy Dennis and Shylah Francis each found the back of the net. Five different UMFK players recorded assists as the Bengals earned their first victory and clean sheet of the season.

UMFK wasted little time taking control of the match. Marr opened the scoring just 4:26 into the contest, finishing a pass from Javelle Alexander to give the Bengals an early 1-0 advantage.

Martin doubled the lead in the 10th minute off an assist from Stephenson. Marr struck again at 12:45, converting a pass from Shaniah Johnson to complete her brace and put UMFK ahead 3-0.

The Bengals continued their early offensive surge when Stephenson scored in the 16th minute following an assist from Ashley Tomlinson. Dennis added an unassisted goal at 27:17, sending UMFK into halftime with a 5-0 lead.

Francis completed the scoring in the 64th minute, finding the net off an assist from Rosaria Talbot.

The balanced performance featured five different goal scorers and five different players with assists. Stephenson contributed at both ends of the scoring sequence, finishing the afternoon with one goal and one assist.

The victory improves UMFK’s record to 1-2 and gives the Bengals momentum heading into a pair of home matches against St. Thomas University. The teams will meet Friday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. and again Saturday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. in Fort Kent.
