UMFK Women’s Soccer Defeats St. Thomas, Captures Battle of the Border Cup
FORT KENT, Maine (Sept. 5, 2026) — The University of Maine at Fort Kent women’s soccer team completed a two-game sweep of the St. Thomas University Tommies with a 4-1 victory Saturday, securing the Battle of the Border Cup.
The Bengals opened the competition Friday with a 2-1 win. Madi Martin and Ashley Tomlinson scored for UMFK to give the Bengals their first victory of the weekend.
UMFK continued its strong performance Saturday, defeating the Tommies 4-1. Shylah Francis, Breanna Marr, Tajay Stephenson and Shaniah Johnson each scored for the Bengals.
With the two victories, UMFK finished the competition with a 2-0 record and claimed the Battle of the Border Cup.
The weekend sweep showcased the Bengals’ balanced attack, with six different players finding the back of the net across the two matches. The Bengals return to action Saturday, Sept. 12, when they travel to face American International College at 1 p.m.
