Fort Kent, ME -

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Men’s Soccer team took on the St. Thomas University Tommies in a home match Friday afternoon. In what was a beautiful afternoon in Fort Kent, the Bengals pounced on the Tommies early in the match as Travar McCollah scored a goal in a miraculous fashion that bounced off the crossbar and just over the outstretched arms of the St. Thomas keeper.

The rest of the match was full of back-and-forth action, although the Bengals did have a number of wonderful opportunities to stretch out the lead but could not convert. The Bengals shared the ball well throughout the remainder of the first half, and into the second half and even had chances to score right in the box that they could not take advantage of. It was not until the 72nd minute that Shawn Genus was able to extend the lead with a goal on an assist from Travar McCollah. Luke Wentland, a newcomer to the Bengals roster this season, added a goal late to seal the deal for the home team.

The Bengals advance to 2-0-1 on the season with a trip up to Nova Scotia on the horizon as they take on Cape Breton University on September 3rd.
