The UMFK Women’s Basketball team took on in-state rival, the University of Maine, at Augusta Fighting Moose in Unity, Maine, on Wednesday night. The Bengals’ pressure defense right from the opening tip caught UMA off guard as the Bengals jumped out to a 21-2 lead. Although the Fighting Moose did come back and cut the lead to 25-13, the Bengals continued to apply pressure and eventually cruised to a 79-38 victory in what was a total team effort. The Bengals’ fast start was aided by Madison Fenner, who hit two early three-pointers to get the momentum going for the Bengals. Tajaheray McMahan was instrumental in the pressure defense with her nine steals on the game to go along with 21 points. The Bengals’ record now increases to 4-1.
