Fort Kent, ME -

In what was the home opener for the UMFK Women’s Basketball team this season, the Bengals took on the visiting Mustangs from Central Maine Community College. Both teams came into the matchup with only one loss in the young season. The Bengals got out to a double-digit lead early due to their aggressiveness and ability to get to the line. Ivette Trujillo was a force down low for UMFK in the first half with her eight points. Despite being up early, the visiting Mustangs never gave up and cut the lead to eight at halftime. Although the Bengals led the entire way, the Mustangs had a ton of fight in them and continued to hit timely shots down the stretch, never letting the Bengal lead exceed 10.

Tajaheray McMahan was clutch in crunch time for the Bengals. With about five minutes remaining in the game, with the Bengals ahead by only eight, she came down on three consecutive possessions to hit three-point baskets to seal the deal for UMFK. Trinity Washington gave the Bengals excellent pace throughout with her 9 rebounds and 9 assists.

The Lady Bengals have a few days off for Thanksgiving before they take on Maine Maritime Academy on November 27th.
