UMFK Track and Field Impresses at UMass

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Track & Field Program opened up their outdoor season Saturday at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Corsair Classic. The men’s team finished in 12th place out of 20 scoring teams.

The Bengals had two scoring athletes, with Ajay Thompson winning the High Jump with a jump of 1.98m and Nick Gayle placing 6th out of 59 collegiate competitors in the 100m.

Other meet highlights included Joe Enerva breaking the shot put school record with a distance of 11.14m (15th out of 44 competitors), Aaron Boateng breaking the 400m school record with a time of 53.00 (10th out of 47 competitors), Nick Gayle breaking the 200m school record in 23.72 (10th out of 75 competitors), and Yannick Kasongo getting a PR in the long jump at 4.93m and setting the javelin school record at 30.18m.

The Bengals’ next meet is Saturday, April 6, at Smith College.
