UMFK Welcomes New Athletic Trainer
The University of Maine at Fort Kent Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Head Athletic Trainer, Josh Nichols. Nichols, a graduate of UMFK and former soccer player, also graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a degree in Athletic Training. Nichols will oversee over 100 athletes in six varsity sports. Despite the COVID-19 Pandemic canceling the Fall semester of athletics, the university teams still plan on conducting practices and workouts through the end of November. Nichols will be instrumental in helping keep all the athletes safe and fit.
Interim Athletic Director Matt Dyer said, “After a lengthy search with many qualified candidates, I am pleased to welcome Josh Nichols to our department staff and look forward to him getting to work with our coaches and student-athletes.” Nichols said, “I have so much passion for UMFK, being an alum and former soccer player, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to give back to the current student-athletes here.”
Nichols will begin work officially on September 1st.
