Bengals Complete Perfect Road Trip
The University of Maine at Fort Kent men’s basketball team finished their road trip, a five games in six days trip, with a victory over College of St. Joseph (VT), 90-75 on Friday evening. UMFK won all five games on the trip and has now won nine in a row and 13 of 15 to move to 15-6 overall.
Another slow start found UMFK down early, as CSJ came out firing and played like a team not indicative of their record (0-12). The home took care of the ball against the Bengal pressure and hit five three’s in the opening half. The turning point in the half, and ultimately the game, came with just six seconds to go when Benson Arogbo leaked out for a fast break dunk and was intentionally fouled by a CSJ player. Both foul shots were made, and Troy Williams hit a three off the inbounds pass for a 7-0 run that put UMFK up 38-35 at the half.
A 32-12 sustained run that spanned the last five minutes of the first half and the first six minutes of the second half was the decider. Johnathan Caldwell hit four second-half three-point shots during the run.
Caldwell led the way with 18 points. Anthony Knight finished with 17 points, and Benson Arogbo came off the bench to score 12 points and grab five rebounds. Tom Enerva and Travis Harlin Jr. each scored 10.
The Bengals out-rebounded CSJ 53-37 and outscored them from the foul line 20 (20-31) to 6 (6-12).
