On Thursday November 18th, the Bengals traveled down to South Portland to face SMCC’s Seawolves. The Bengals played a well-fought-out game but came up short, losing the game by 3 points. Seawolves won over the Bengals 63-60.

INSIDE THE GAME

The Bengals started off slow, with finding the rim with 5-18 from the field. The Seawolves were able to outscore the Bengals in the first quarter by just 2 points, 11-13. In the second quarter, the Bengals came alive with Jzane Money knocking down two 3s and the Bengals dominating on the defensive end. The Bengals went into the half over the Seawolves 32-29.

The Bengals came into the second half hungry and ready to push the score even further. The Seawolves were still working together to get past the Bengals defense. In the blink of an eye, Jayonah Chaboya, who was a major threat on the floor, had picked up her 4th foul of the game, forcing the Bengals to retreat. With Chaboya on the bench, the Seawolves were able to find their momentum and outscored the Bengals in the 4 quarter 12-25. The Seawolves had climbed their way out of their 10-point deficit. In just the last couple of minutes of the game the Bengals and the Seawolves were tied at 60-60. The Seawolves called a timeout, which led to their game-winning 3 shots by Hannah Richards, who had 24 pts by the end of the game.

Tough match for the Bengals as this is their second game of the season. They have a few things to work out but ultimately look forward to earning more wins for the rest of the season.

The Bengals head next to Castine, ME, on November 19th to face Maine Maritime Academy at 6 pm. Catch the live stream via the Bengals schedule.
