Men’s Soccer to Honor Seniors, Wear Pink for October 18 Matchup Against Central Maine
The University of Maine at Fort Kent men’s soccer team will celebrate its seniors and take the field for a meaningful cause when the Bengals host Central Maine Community College on Sunday, October 18, at 4 p.m. at Michael Simon Field.
Senior Day will recognize the dedication, leadership and contributions of the student-athletes who have helped carry UMFK’s soccer tradition forward. The afternoon offers families, students and community members an opportunity to celebrate those Bengals while supporting the team against an in-state opponent.
UMFK will also wear pink socks in recognition of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, showing support for those affected by breast cancer and honoring survivors, individuals undergoing treatment and loved ones lost to the disease. Fans are encouraged to wear pink alongside their Bengal green and gold.
The Bengals will look to complete a season sweep of Central Maine after earning a 3–1 road victory in Auburn on September 14. Deanroy Phillip led UMFK’s attack with two goals and an assist, while Michael German added a goal and Christopher McKenzie contributed an assist. UMFK built a 2–0 halftime advantage and extended its lead before Central Maine captain Yoan Thériault scored late.
That victory followed a closely contested meeting on September 20, 2025, when the teams finished in a 1–1 draw in Fort Kent. The Bengals’ convincing result this September gives UMFK a strong performance to build upon as the matchup returns to Michael Simon Field.
German, Rohane Brown and Phillip provide compelling attacking storylines entering Senior Day. German delivered two goals and an assist for a team-leading five points in UMFK’s October 6 comeback victory over UMaine Presque Isle. Brown added a goal and an assist, while Courtney Francis supplied the equalizer as the Bengals scored four unanswered second-half goals to win 4–2. Phillip’s three-point outing against Central Maine demonstrated his ability to make a decisive impact against Sunday’s opponent.
With senior recognition, Bengal pride and breast cancer awareness woven into the afternoon, October 18 promises to be about more than the final score. UMFK invites the campus and Fort Kent community to fill the sidelines, celebrate its seniors and cheer the Bengals on against the Mustangs.
