UMFK Inks Stellar 2018 Recruiting Class
The University of Maine at Fort Kent Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Fletcher Brown, has signed the first three recruits of his young tenure in Fort Kent. Brown relied on his California Community College roots as his recruiting base.
The first commit for the upcoming 2018-2019 season is Los Gatos, California native Lauren Lacey. Lauren spent last season with Cabrillo Community College in Santa Cruz, California where her 8.7 assists per game lead the state. She guided her Cabrillo College team to the first Coast Conference South championship since 1971. Brown stated, “Lauren is a tremendous distributor and playmaker; she makes the game easy for her teammates, and we couldn’t be happier she decided on Fort Kent to continue her education and playing career.”
Coach Brown’s next commitment came from Alyse Kline. Kline last played for Ohlone College in Fremont, California. While at Ohlone, Kline was an overall stat sheet stuffer to the tune of 16.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.2 steals a game. Coach Brown had this to say about his newest player, “Alyse has a tremendous all-around game. She will bring some much-needed experience and maturity to our team next season.”
The next new Bengal to sign was San Lorenzo, California native Tamarra Lee. The 5’8 former Laney College guard averaged 7.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3 assists a game, earning her an All-Conference Selection in the Bay Valley Conference, one of California’s toughest community college conferences. “Tamarra’s athleticism and versatility will give her the ability to make a tremendous impact on our program next season.” Coach Brown had to say.
