Fort Kent, Maine — The University of Maine at Fort Kent is proud to announce the hiring of Lakeria Crowder as the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach. Crowder brings a diverse background in collegiate coaching, player development, and academic leadership to the Bengals program.

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Crowder most recently served as an assistant coach at Lane College during the 2023–24 season, where she contributed in key areas including compliance, scouting, skill development, and recruiting. Prior to that, she was part of the staff at Whitworth University, an NCAA Division III (NWC) institution, working under head coach Joial Griffith.

Crowder previously spent four seasons at LeMoyne-Owen College, competing in NCAA Division II (SIAC). During her tenure, the program saw steady growth, improving from an 8–22 record in her first season to 16–11 in her second. Over four seasons, the team compiled a 51–60 record while developing multiple all-conference student-athletes.

In addition to her coaching experience, Crowder is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and brings strong academic credentials. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Pikeville and holds both a Master of Science in Athletic Administration and a Master of Education. She has also served as an adjunct professor, teaching at the collegiate level.

Crowder’s expertise spans all aspects of program building, including recruiting, game planning, fundraising, player development, personnel management, and supporting student-athlete academic success.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Maine at Fort Kent”, said Crowder. “I am truly excited to begin this new chapter and look forward to build something special here.”
